Connect Gmail To Windows Live Mail

Setting up your Gmail account in Windows Live Mail is very simple if you follow the quick steps mentioned below. You can either configure the Gmail account settings automatically or manually in Windows Live Mail. To configure it manually, you have to determine the server settings. The following are the server settings to connect Gmail to Windows Live Mail

  • Step 1:Incoming Mail Server (IMAP): imap.gmail.com
  • Step 2:Incoming Mail Server (POP): pop.gmail.com
  • Step 3:Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.gmail.com
  • Step 4:IMAP Port: 993
  • Step 5:POP Port: 995
  • Step 6:Outgoing (SMTP) port: 465 or 587 

Setup Windows Live Mail Gmail Account Manually

  • Step 1:Before setting up your Gmail account in Windows Live Mail, log in to your Gmail webmail account.
  • Step 2:Click the Settings icon at the top-right corner of the screen and select Settings from the drop-down menu.
  • Step 3:Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab and navigate to the IMAP Access section.
  • Step 4:Select the Enable IMAP option and click the Save Changes button.
  • Step 5:If you wish to set up a POP account, navigate to the POP Download section and select the Enable POP for all mail option to connect Gmail to Windows Live Mail.
  • Step 6:If necessary, toggle on the Allow Less Secure Apps button in the Account Info window.
  • Step 7:Next, launch Windows Live Mail on your computer and click the Accounts tab.
  • Step 8:Click the Add an email account button and select the Manually configure server settings checkbox.
  • Step 9:On the Configure server settings screen, choose either IMAP or POP as your account type from the Server type drop-down menu.
  • Step 10:If you have selected IMAP as your account type, enter ‘imap.gmail.com’ in the Server address field and enter 993 in the Port field.
  • Step 11:If you have selected POP as your account type, enter ‘pop.gmail.com’ in the Server address field and enter 995 in the Port field.
  • Step 12:Check the Requires a secure authentication (SSL) checkbox.
  • Step 13:Enter your email address (Gmail) in the Logon user name field.
  • Step 14:Under Outgoing server information, enter ‘smtp.gmail.com’ in the Server address field.
  • Step 15:Enter 465 or 587 in the Port field and check the Requires a secure connection (SSL) checkbox.
  • Step 16:Also, select the Requires authentication checkbox.
  • Step 17:Click the Next button and wait until the account settings are verified.
  • Step 18:Once completed, a confirmation message will display on the screen.
  • Step 19:Click Finish to complete the account setup.
