Sometimes a small mistake made while entering the password could leave you perplexed while logging in, so always double-check if you have entered the correct password. Maybe you would have turned on Caps Lock by mistake while entering the password. If you are still not able to access your Gmail account, use Google's password recovery page by clicking the "Can't access your account?" link.
Gmail provides three options for resetting your account password.
Option 1: The phone number
The phone number you provided while creating a Google account can be used to recover or reset your Gmail password. If you choose this option, keep your registered phone number with you, as you will receive a text message with a verification code.
Option 2: Answering your security question
Answer the question Google prompts you for verification. Those are the questions you have chosen for recovery while creating your Gmail Account.
Option 3: Recovery email address
While creating your Gmail account, you would have provided an alternate email address. This email address can be used for your email account recovery as well. And fix the Gmail account problems also.
If you have a doubt that your account is being accessed by someone else, then use these steps.
Click on the Can't access your account? link under the sign-in box.
