Gmail Exchange Server Cannot Send Email if Gmail does not connect with Outlook. However, it is quite an easy fix. When Gmail asks for a password in Outlook, you have to key in the correct password.
- Step 1: Checking the Internet Message Access Protocol status is the first step.
- Step 2: IMAP’s primary function is to enable communication between the mail server and the email client.
- Step 3: If the Exchange server in Gmail cannot send the email, check to see if you have enabled IMAP.
- Step 4: Open your Gmail account. Click Settings.
- Step 5: Select Forwarding and IMAP/POP.
- Step 6: In the IMAP Access section, click the Enable IMAP radio button.
- Step 7: Click Save changes.
- Step 1: Enter your Gmail account.
- Step 2: Scroll to the top-right corner of the screen and click on My account.
- Step 3: Select the Connected apps & sites option from Sign-in & security tab.
- Step 4: Find out the Allow access to less secure apps in the window and click on the radio button to enable the option.
- Step 5: Save your settings.
- Step 1: Create a password that you use to access Gmail from Outlook.
- Step 2: Once you open your Google account, select the Sign in & security option.
- Step 3: Locate and click the App Passwords option.
- Step 4: Enter your Gmail account password, and in the next window, select Outlook exchange from the drop-down menu, and click the Generate button.
- Step 1: Run the Outlook application. Select Add Account from the file menu.
- Step 2: The options vary for different versions of Outlook.
- Step 3: In the next window, select the POP or IMAP option.
- Step 4: Select Test account settings and proceed to More settings.
- Step 5: Go to the Outgoing server tab and check the SMTP requires authentication.
- Step 6: You can use the same settings for IMAP settings.
- Step 7: Set port number for IMAP to 993.
- Step 8: Set port number for SMTP to 465.
- Step 9: Select SSL as the encrypted connection type. Click OK followed by Finish.
