Method 1 - Using Windows Live Mail

Before you proceed with the following steps, take a backup of your Windows Live Mail data because this method is not 100% safe. If anything goes wrong, data loss might occur. So, it is better to make a backup and then proceed the export Windows Live Mail to Outlook steps as follows.

  • Step 1:Open the Windows Live Mail application on your computer.
  • Step 2:Also, launch the Microsoft Outlook email client on the same computer.
  • Step 3:Click the File tab, select the Export email option in the left panel, choose the Email messages option in the main panel.
  • Step 4:In the Select Program window, choose the Microsoft Exchange option from the ‘Select the format you want to export email’ menu and click Next.
  • Step 5:If you see the Export Messages dialog box, select the OK option.
  • Step 6:Select the Outlook email client from the Profile Name drop-down menu and click the OK option in the Choose Profile dialog box.
  • Step 7:When the next dialog window opens, navigate to the Folders section and select the radio button next to the All folders or Selected folders option.
  • Step 8:Click OK next to ‘Select the mail folders you want to export from Windows Live Mail.’
  • Step 9:Once done, a confirmation message will be displayed. The export Windows Live Mail to Outlook process completed successfully.

Method 2 - Using Windows Live Mail to PST Converter

  • Step 1:Download, install, and launch the ‘Windows Live Mail to PST Converter’ software on your computer.
  • Step 2:Navigate to the Folder list section, click Browse, and search for the Windows Live Mail .eml file.
  • Step 3:If needed, preview the data.
  • Step 4:In the Export Options window, select the radio button beside the PST option and click Export.
  • Step 5:Once done, import the pst file into the Outlook email client.

Method 3 - From the Windows Live Mail client’s file location

  • Step 1:Navigate to C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail.
  • Step 2:Copy all the data in this location.
  • Step 3:Open the Outlook email client, create a new folder, and paste the copied data.
  • Step 4:Note: If the Outlook and Windows Live Mail email clients are installed on a different system, you can use any storage device to transfer the data.
