To switch your email account from Windows Live Mail to Thunderbird, you have to export all your email messages from Windows Live Mail and import them to the Thunderbird client. Step 1:Export your email messages from the Windows Live Mail application in .eml format.
Step 2:To import this .eml format files into Thunderbird, you need to download and install a third-party add-on ImportEXportTools on your computer.
Step 3:Open the Thunderbird application, navigate to Local Folders, and create a new folder.
Step 4:Right-click the newly created folder, select the ImportExportTools option, and click the ‘Import all messages from a directory’ option.
Step 5:Go to the folder where the Windows Live Mail client’s .eml files are saved.
Step 6:Note: By default, these files are saved in the ‘C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail’ location.
Step 7:Once you click the Open option, the Windows Live Mail client’s email messages will be imported into Thunderbird.
Step 1:Open the Windows Live Mail application and then click the Contacts tab in the left panel.
Step 2:Now, choose the contacts that you need to export.
Step 3:Navigate to the Export tab and select the Business Card (.VCF) option.
Step 4:Save these exported contacts in any directory.
Step 5:Now, launch Thunderbird and install MoreFunctionsForAddressBook as per the on-screen instructions.
Step 6:Once done, click Address Book in the Thunderbird client.
Step 7:Navigate to Tools, select MoreFunctionsForAddressBook -> Actions for Contacts, and click the Import vCard/VCF option.
Step 8:Search for the folder or directory where you have saved the exported contacts.
Step 9:Select the contacts folder and click Open.
Step 10:This will import Windows Live Mail to Thunderbird.
