How to Set Up Pop3 Mail Server for Thunderbird

Carry out these steps to perform How to Set Up Pop3 Mail Server for Thunderbird mail:

  • Step 1: Open the Thunderbird email client and click on the Tools tab that is available on the top of the screen.
  • Step 2: Select the Account Settings option from the displayed list.
  • Step 3: Click on the Email account radio button from the Account Wizard screen and click Next.
  • Step 4: Enter your desired name and email address in the Your Name and Email Address fields.
  • Step 5: In the Server Information window, select POP and enter the incoming server name in the Incoming Server field (for example, pop3.example.net).
  • Step 6: In the User Names window, fill up the Incoming User Name and Outgoing User Name columns.
  • Step 7: Click on the Next button to proceed with the next step.
  • Step 8: Enter your desired name for the Email (for example, home account, office account,etc.) in the Account Name field.
  • Step 9: Verify the server settings by clicking the View settings for this account option.
  • Step 10: Select the Server Settings option that is available on the left side panel.
  • Step 11: Check the Server Name, User Name, and Port numbers.
  • Step 12: Also, mark the required checkboxes under the Server Settings field.
  • Step 13: Select the Outgoing Server(SMTP) option front the left panel and type the default outgoing mail server name(for example, ‘smtpout.example.net’).
  • Step 14: Enter the port number as 80 in the text field(default port number is 25).
  • Step 15: Enter your full email address in the User Name column and select a secure connection type (SSL or TLS).
  • Step 16: Thunderbird will prompt you to enter the password if you are setting up the mail for the first time.
  • Step 17: After completing all the settings, click on the OK button to finish the process.
  • Step 18: Now, you can easily access your account on Mozilla Thunderbird.
