Step 1 - Updating your Mac OS

  • Step 1:Check if the macOS X is running the latest software version. If not, update it.
  • Step 2:Click the Apple logo icon on the home screen of your Mac computer.
  • Step 3:Choose the System Preferences option and click the Software Update button.
  • Step 4:If a software update is available, select the Update Now option.
  • Step 5:Open the Safari web browser or other web browsers on the Mac computer and visit the System Status web page.
  • Step 6:Check if the ‘All services are operating normally’ message appears on the screen.
  • Step 7:If not, proceed with the following instructions to resolve the iCloud mail server error.

Step 2 - Supported Web Browser:

  • Step 1: Check if you are using the supported web browser. The supported browsers to access the iCloud email account are Safari (9.1 or later), Firefox (45 or later), Google Chrome (54 or later), and Opera.
  • Step 2: If needed, update the web browser.

Step 3 - Clear the Web Browser Cache:

  • Step 1: Launch the Safari web browser and click Safari -> Clear History.
  • Step 2: This will clear the Safari web browser history.

Step 4 - SMTP Server:

  • Step 1: Open the Mail application on the Mac computer, navigate to the Accounts tab, and choose your iCloud email account.
  • Step 2: Click the Edit SMTP Server List option.
  • Step 3: Now, you will not see the iCloud SMTP server option.
  • Step 4: This procedure will resolve the recipient not receiving the email message that you have sent.

Step 5 - iCloud Mail Server Settings:

  • Step 1: Remove the iCloud email account from the Mac Mail application.
  • Step 2: Re-add the account manually using the following server settings.
  • Step 3: Incoming Mail Server
  • Step 4: Server name - imap.mail.me.com
  • Step 5: SSL required - Yes
  • Step 6: Note: If an error occurs, try to use TLS.
  • Step 7: Port - 993
  • Step 8: Outgoing Mail Server
  • Step 9: Server name - smtp.mail.me.com
  • Step 10: SSL required - Yes
  • Step 11: Port - 587
  • Step 12: Authentication required - Yes
