METHOD 1: MAKE SURE IMAP IS ENABLED

If the IMAP is disabled in Gmail, then the Mail app will not work with the Gmail account. So the best solution is to enable IMAP. Here are the steps:

  • Step 1:Open the default browser on your Windows computer.
  • Step 2:Sign in to your Gmail account.
  • Step 3:Click the Menu (three dots) icon at the top-right corner of the browser.
  • Step 4:Select the Settings option from the drop-down list.
  • Step 5:Select ee all settings option on the Settings page.
  • Step 6:Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
  • Step 7:Under the IMAP access section, select the Enable IMAP option.
  • Step 8:Click the Save Changes button to solve the mail app is not working With Gmail account issue.

METHOD 2: DISABLE TWO-STEP AUTHENTICATION

  • Step 1:Open the browser and sign in to your Google account.
  • Step 2:Click on the Security option from the left section of the page.
  • Step 3:Scroll down to the Signing into Google section and click the 2-Step Verification option.
  • Step 4:Enter the Gmail password if prompted.
  • Step 5:Click on the Turn Off option displayed at the top of the page.
  • Step 6:Click the button for the confirmation window to turn off two-step verification to solve mail app is not working with Gmail account issue.

METHOD 3: ENABLE LESS SECURE APPS ON GMAIL

  • Step 1:Sign in to your Google account.
  • Step 2:Click the Security option.
  • Step 3:Scroll down to the Less secure apps access section.
  • Step 4:Click the Turn on access (not recommended) option.
  • Step 5:Click on the toggle switch for the option Allow less secure apps, and the color of the slider will turn blue.

METHOD 4: REMOVE AND RE-ADD GMAIL ACCOUNT IN MAIL APP

  • Step 1:Open the Mail app.
  • Step 2:Move the cursor pointer to the top-right corner and click on the Settings icon.
  • Step 3:Click the Manage Accounts option.
  • Step 4:Click the account(Gmail) you want to remove.
  • Step 5:Now, click the Delete Account button.
  • Step 6:Close and open the Mail app again.
  • Step 7:When the Welcome to Mail screen appears, click the + Add Account button.
  • Step 8:Select the Google option from the list.
  • Step 9:In the fields displayed, enter your Gmail email address and click the Next button.
  • Step 10:Enter your Gmail account password and click the Next button.
  • Step 11:Now, click the Allow button and then click Done.
