Outlook Express is an email client that allows you to add multiple email accounts using POP3, IMAP, and SMTP settings. Keep reading the instructions below to know how to set up Outlook Express email.

If this is the first-time setup:

  • Step 1: On your Windows computer, launch Microsoft Outlook Express from the Start menu.
  • Step 2: Alternatively, launch the Microsoft Outlook Express program by double-clicking its shortcut icon on the desktop.
  • Step 3: Once the app is launched, the Internet Connection Wizard will pop up.
  • Step 4: On the Your Name page, enter your name in the Display name field and click Next.
  • Step 5: On the Internet E-mail Address page, enter your email address in the Email address field and click Next.
  • Step 6: Choose POP3 as your incoming mail server type from the drop-down menu.
  • Step 7: Under the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server section, enter the incoming mail server name.
  • Step 8: In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server field, enter the outgoing mail server name and click Next.
  • Step 9: Once your email account is added, click Finish.
  • Step 10: You will be redirected to the Internet Accounts window.
  • Step 11: Configure the incoming and outgoing mail server settings and go to the Advanced tab to input the server port details.
  • Step 12: Finally, click OK to complete the Outlook Express email setup.

If this is not the first time setup:

  • Step 1: Launch the Outlook Express program on your computer.
  • Step 2: Next, click the Tools tab in the menu bar and select the Accounts option from the drop-down list.
  • Step 3: In the Internet Accounts window, click the Add button and select the Mail option.
  • Step 4: Give your account a name and enter your email address in the required field.
  • Step 5: On the Email Server Names screen, choose POP3 as your account type from the drop-down menu.
  • Step 6: Type the incoming and outgoing mail server details of your email account in the required fields and click Next.
  • Step 7: On the Internet Mail Logon page, enter your email address and password.
  • Step 8: Click the Next button and select Finish.
  • Step 9: Now, click the Tools tab in the menu bar and select Accounts.
  • Step 10: In the Internet Accounts window, go to the Mail tab and double-click on your email account.
  • Step 11: In the Servers tab, enter your mail server names in the Server Information section.
  • Step 12: Under the Incoming Mail Server section, type your email address in the Account name field.
  • Step 13: Enter your email account password in the Password field.
  • Step 14: Select the My server requires authentication checkbox below Outgoing Mail Server.
  • Step 15: Click the Advanced tab and input the server port numbers.
  • Step 16: If you wish to use SSL as your security type, select the This server requires a secure connection (SSL) checkbox.
  • Step 17: Click OK to complete the setup.
