Why is my iPhone email notification not working?
You may not receive email alerts on your notification if the Silent mode is enabled or due to other changed settings on your iPhone. If you don’t receive notification alert for emails, carry out the step-by-step procedure given below to resolve iPhone email notification not working issue.
Step 1: Checking initial settings
- Step 1:Ensure that the silent mode switch present on the left side of the iPhone is not turned on.
- Step 2:On iOS 12, you can easily manage your notifications from your home screen.
- Step 3:If you receive notifications regularly from an app that is not important, you can swipe left and tap Manage to turn off the notification from the same app.
- Step 4:Check whether you have turned off notification for the Apple Mail application.
- Step 5:Swipe left on the Mail notification and tap Manage. Then, select the Deliver Prominently tab to start receiving all notification alerts.
- Step 6:Swipe up to check whether you have turned on the “Do not disturb” icon.
- Step 7:Turn off the Do not disturb icon to get the notification alert tones
Step 2: Disable low battery mode
- Step 1:Check whether you have enabled low battery mode on your iPhone.
- Step 2:From your iPhone, go to Settings and select the Battery option.
- Step 3:If the Low Power Mode is turned on, you may not receive any notifications alerts.
- Step 4:Turn off the slider button next to the Low Power Mode section to enable the notifications.
Step 3: Set a notification tone
- Step 1:Go to Settings and select the Sounds & Haptics tab.
- Step 2:Select the Ringer and Alerts section and turn up the volume.
- Step 3:Touch the New Mail section and select an alert tone from the list of default tones.
- Step 4:You will not miss an alert notification tone if you choose a more audible sound. Checkmark the tone by selecting it.
- Step 5:Select the New Mail option and set a suitable tone for notification.
- Step 6:You can select the tones for the other notification sections under the Sounds & Haptics section.
Step 4: Turning on email notifications
- Step 1:On your iPhone, go to Settings and select Notifications.
- Step 2:Tap the Mail option and select the email address you want to receive notifications.
- Step 3:In the Allow Notifications section, turn on the slider button.
- Step 4:You can choose where to receive your notifications under the Alerts section. Choose either the lock screen, notification center, or banners option.
- Step 5:If you need to display a badge for the unread emails, turn on Badges.
- Step 6:Tap on the left arrow icon on the top-left corner to turn on notification alerts for the other email accounts.
Step 5: Unmute the email thread notifications
- Step 1:For iOS 13 versions, there is an option in the Mail application to mute email thread messages separately.
- Step 2:Launch the Mail application and check whether any email threads are marked with a crossed-out bell icon at the end of the email message.
- Step 3:Swipe left on the muted email and tap the More option. Now, touch Unmute.
Step 6: Adjusting Fetch and Push settings
- Step 1:Go to Settings and select the Mail tab.
- Step 2:Open the Accounts section and select your email account.
- Step 3:Select the Fetch New Data and turn the slider button on.
- Step 4:You can set the frequency for receiving emails if you receive a lot of notifications.
Step 7: Refresh Background app
- Step 1:Open the Settings application and select the General tab
- Step 2:Tap on the Background App Refresh option and select the Wi-Fi & Mobile Data option to refresh the app.
Step 8: Re-adding email accounts
- Step 1:Open Settings and select the Password & Accounts tab.
- Step 2:Touch on the email account which you want to remove and re-add. Select the Delete Account option.
- Step 3:Now, go back and select the Password & Accounts section. Tap on the Add Account tab.
- Step 4:Enter the login credentials of your email account and select the options to sync your Mail, Contacts, Reminders, Calendars. Save the settings.
Step 9: Re-install the Mail applications
- Step 1:If the issue persists, uninstall the mail application.
- Step 2:Touch and hold the Mail application and select the Delete App option.
- Step 3:Restart your iPhone and open the App Store to download the Mail application.
- Step 4:Launch the Mail app and log in with your email account’s username and password.
- Step 5:Open Settings and go to the Passwords & Accounts section to configure the mail settings.
Step 10: Disconnect Apple Watch
- Step 1:Since the issue has not yet resolved, temporarily disable the Apple Watch by disconnecting the Apple Watch app.
- Step 2:Launch the Apple Watch application on your iPhone.
- Step 3:Navigate to the Watch tab and select Notifications.
- Step 4:Locate the Mail application and tap Notifications.
- Step 5:Select Custom to edit the notification settings.
Step 11: Update the iPhone
- Step 1:Finally, try updating the iPhone to the latest version of iOS.
- Step 2:Launch the Settings app and select the General tab.
- Step 3:Tap the Software Update tab and check whether you have an update available.
- Step 4:If an iOS update is available, download and install it.
- Step 5:Restart your computer to fix the notification alert issue.
